Inman Point Road, Shingle Loop, Moore Ridge, & Limekiln Loop
Most of the trails in Prentice Cooper State Forest are easy to moderate. There are some trails that having a lift is a bonus for extra clearance. It’s a great place to drive around for a few hours and close to Chattanooga. Inman Point Road, Shingle Loop, Moore Ridge and Limekiln Loop is a 9.1 mile moderately trafficked and moderately challenging loop trail located near Whitwell, Tennessee that offers scenic views. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and ohv/off road driving and is accessible year-round.

Persimmon Road Loop
The Persimmon Road Loop is a lightly trafficked, 5.9 mile loop trail located near Chattanooga, Tennessee offering a great forest setting and a moderately difficult experience. The trail is primarily used for ohv/off road driving. Please keep in mind that the 4×4 roads in Prentice Cooper State Forest close seasonally due to wet weather and turkey nesting. Pickett State Park Campground Loop
Also known as Black House Mountain, Pickett State Forest is a beautiful scenic riding area located just 7 miles from Laurel Fork Rustic Retreat and offering over 100 miles of trails spanning Kentucky and Tennessee. What’s more, expect uncommon rock formations, natural bridges, numerous caves, waterfalls, and a mineral lake. Keep in mind that since the area is free to ride, there aren’t a ton of maps available. Ride Royal Blue OHV Trail is a 26.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Pioneer, Tennessee that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. What’s cool about this trail is the fact that it offers so many opportunities to see wildlife in action, however, there are many different sections and trails to choose from in the area. Ride Royal Blue ATV Resort and Campground also offers the perfect, family-oriented place to set up base camp before exploring the North Cumberland WMA, a popular 900+ mile trail system. Explore abandoned mines, boulder foundations, and even a few waterfalls! The resort offers 100 RV sites with full hookups as well as plenty of tent areas. Happy off-roading!

Schoolhouse Road
Nestled within the heart of the Emory River Watershed, Schoolhouse Road offers a fantastic opportunity for off-roaders to get out and enjoy the fresh air and the mountains. An easy/moderate, family-friendly trail that is always great fun for a group ride, it was actually used as access from the river valley to High Knob for many years. This trail offers great shaded pathways and a few steep grades to make the route exciting without becoming overly difficult. Whether you’re looking for a nice day out in the woods or heading up the mountain to connect with another trail, Schoolhouse Road will not disappoint you and yours.
